Hi Folks I hope everyone is keeping safe. Comhaltas have launched a online site for all students of Traditional Irish Music levels to learn Tunes at www.sctexams.com and the material used is taken from varying levels of the SCT exam syllabus. The levels are Elemetry Cycle 2. Grade 1-5 and Grade 6-8. This will help all students to work on their music skills while at home. If you work on it you might be in a position to take the exams at a later date. The site is at https://www.sctexams.com/ Please spread the word.

Scoil Éigse Mullingar 2020
The 48th Annual Scoil Éigse organised by Comhaltas takes place in Mullingar, August 2nd to 7th, the Week preceding Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann. At Scoil Éigse – CCÉ’s annual international Summer School students of all ages register for the various instrumental music, singing, dancing and Irish language classes.
Classes: Adult Class | Amhránaíocht | Banjo | Bodhrán | Button Accordion | Comhrá | Concertina | Fiddle | Flute | Harp | Piano Accompaniment | Piano Accordion | Uilleann Pipes | Rince ar an Sean-nós | Traditional Singing | Whistle.

TTCT 2020 Teacher Training Course
TTCT 2020Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann’s TTCT Teacher Training Course has over 800 graduates throughout Ireland and overseas. The course which has been in existence since 1980 has been specifically designed to equip teachers of Irish traditional music to teach more effectively in a wide variety of community settings. This residential course is highly subscribed and applications are received from candidates both nationally and internationally. Amongst the subject areas included in this intensive course are:
- Irish traditional music and traditional music education and pedagogy.
- Instrument methodology | Musical literacy and analysis.
- Accompaniment | Slow Airs.
- General principles of education, teaching and transmission.
- Teaching and learning styles | Class management & preparation.
- Special Educational Needs and Irish Traditional Music.
- SCT as a teaching/learning framework and slow airs as part of the traditional repository.
- Comhaltas Child Protection Guidelines.
- Planning for the CCÉ Branch Music Education Programme & Core Branch Repertoire.
- Teaching practice sessions which are mentored and comprise a significant part of the course.
The course also includes a new module designed to equip candidates with the necessary skills to work in conjunction with local Comhaltas Branch Committees in the planning, preparation and organisation of the various educational activities, initiatives and performances undertaken at local level. This will include developing appropriate ‘branch core repertoire’ across the different instruments and age groups and performance repertoire for different occasions.
